UPDATE: Welcome, Tai Shan!
The National Zoo's new baby panda, previously seen in this Adorablog post, has just gotten a new name: Tai Shan, which translates to "peaceful mountain." CNN reports that this name was most popular in an online poll and also that at his naming party, "[o]fficials from China delivered speeches toasting the fuzzy little cub."
Other news outlets report that "New panda cub is unbearably cute" and that "The peoples of China and the United States are brought closer together by the happiness of this panda family."

Well it looks like I didn't win the raffle for voting, but I did help pick the winning name which is cool

Have you seen this image of 16 baby pandas? Reminds me of a display of Gund at FAO Schwartz.

According to Wonkette, the baby Panda's new name should be "ButterStick". Which I actually think may be cuter.

Have you seen the video of Tai Shan walking, rather sliding around on his tummy? Waay cute!
